The New Citroën C3 Aircross SUV is here

24 November 2017

After being first showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September, the New Citroën C3 Aircross is now on sale. Gone is the old, box-like, MPV style of the C3 Picasso that came before it; in is a much more appealing compact SUV model that is set to rival other similar, class-leading vehicles in the category.

A mix of improved styling, equipment and performance, coupled with a fantastic starting price of £13,995 for the entry-level models, should help it achieve great success. There are various reasons why a New Citroën C3 Aircross SUV could be ideal as your next car.

Fresh and Exciting Style

The first thing that will catch any driver’s eye about the New Citroën C3 Aircross is its modern and strikingly different design. It takes most of its inspiration from the C3 hatchback and C-Aircross design, with Citroën design director Alexandre Malval claiming it aims to attract younger drivers as a more playful vehicle, especially compared to the bigger C5 Aircross.

There are none of the Citroën Airbumps that appear on the C4 Cactus, which give it a much cleaner appearance. Depending on your preference, the door mirrors, roof bars and C-pillars all come in a contrasting colour to the main body. Four-spoke wheels, a chunky grille and split headlights add a unique finishing touch.

Inside, none of the spaciousness of the C3 Picasso has been lost, instead it has merely been cleaned up. There’s 410 litres of space with the rear seats up and a huge 1289 litres with them folded down. The top of the range Flair trim even includes fabric armrests and half-leather seats. With all levels there are instances of colour on the steering wheel, dashboard and centre console that fit with the chosen scheme.

Reliable Performance

The entry-level choice of the New Citroën C3 Aircross is an 81bhp 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Or, for a little extra power, there’s the upgraded 108bhp 1.2-litre PureTech models and the choice of an automatic if desired. All of the 1.2-litre models claim around 50 mpg with CO² emissions of just over 100g/km.

There are also two 1.6-litre diesels available (though both are manual only), delivering 98 and 118bhp that both promise a better fuel economy between 60 and 70mpg with slightly lower emissions. Whichever model you choose, a reliable driving experience is guaranteed.

Modern Range of Equipment

Plenty of class-leading technology that you’d expect are included in the New Citroën C3 Aircross, starting with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen that replaces some of the old dashboard buttons. It includes a sat-nav and smartphone mirroring features and as a first for Citroën can offer wireless smartphone charging as well. Safety systems such as lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and even speed sign recognition are also included.
