PEUGEOT has updated the 208 and E-208 with a new design, new powertrains, and new technologies across both variants of the car. The 208 was the best-selling car in Europe in 2022, with these new updates will ensure it remains a favourite with buyers. Orders for the New 208 and E-208 will open in October 2023.
When it arrives later this year, the New PEUGEOT 208 will deliver:
- More Allure with a sporty new look featuring a new, more modern, PEUGEOT light signature.
- More Emotion with an enhanced digital PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® that maximises driving pleasure.
- More Excellence with electrification in its DNA and a new E-208, offering a range of 248 miles (under approval), New HYBRID 100 and HYBRID 136 engines and the latest generation of PEUGEOT infotainment systems.
Over one million 208 models have been sold since the model’s launch at the end of 2019, with the 208 crowned as the best-selling car in Europe in both 2021 and 2022. This success is due in no small part to the success of the 100% electric E-208. In 2022, the E-208 became Europe's best-selling electric car in the B segment.
Jérôme Micheron, PEUGEOT Product Director: "Working on a model as iconic and successful as the 208 is always a tall order. Our aim was to take the design and performance of the 208 to a higher level while preserving the soul of this model in order to remain at the top of B-segment sales in Europe. The New 208 is more 208 than ever: more feline, more fun to drive, more technological, and all-in-all, more irresistible.”
Allure: An eye-catching, athletic design
The primary challenge facing PEUGEOT's designers was how to deliver a new level of modernity and a new edge to the 208 while protecting the distinctive, irresistible allure that has made it such a success. This was achieved via the following new features:
- New PEUGEOT front light signature: First introduced on the 9X8 Hypercar, followed by the New 508 and 508 SW, then recently on the New 2008, the new PEUGEOT light signature now also adorns the New 208 and E-208. The three long vertical light claws are a distinctive element of this signature and are integrated into the gloss black inserts on the bumper.
All New 208 models feature this new front-light signature. On GT versions, this light feature goes even further. The striking effect of the three light claws is extended into the lighting function of the full LED headlamps using three independent optical modules. - A front end with a new look: All New 208 models feature an all-new front end, pushing the 208 into the new era of PEUGEOT design with the brand's new logo at its centre. The grille features an evolving body-coloured pattern which now further extends into the bumper. The grille and body are no longer compartmentalised but form a whole.
- A redesigned rear light signature: The New 208 reinvents the brand’s familiar rear light signature comprising of three individual red claws now arranged horizontally. They comprise three elegant lines of LEDs that extend across the black strip around the boot lid and give the car a more commanding rear view, and contribute to a perception of greater width. On GT variants, the reversing lights and indicators are also LED.
- Striking new colours: The New 208 and E-208 are available in seven colours, two of which are new, which you can find on our Stellantis &You PEUGEOT configurator. Agueda Yellow is New for 208 while Selenium Grey has been added for the first time. The seven colours available across the model ranges are Agueda Yellow, Selenium Grey, Cumulus Grey, Nera Black, Bianca White, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. All New 208 models feature gloss black door mirrors, no matter what colour you choose, and the GT variants come as standard with gloss black wheel arches.
- Fresh wheel designs: A standout feature of the New 208 is the new alloy wheel designs inspired by the New 408. The new designs include 16-inch ‘NOMA’ diamond-cut two-tone wheels for ALLURE trim and 17-inch ‘YANAKA’ diamond-cut two-tone wheels with inserts for GT. All alloy wheels feature a new four-spoke centre cap, prominently featuring the PEUGEOT shield which also neatly conceals the wheel bolts.
- New PEUGEOT brand identity: The front, side and rear nameplates on the New 208 feature new lettering finished in a new Basalt Grey colour. At the rear, the PEUGEOT letters are all that connect the rear LED lights. The E-208 has been given a new ‘E’ badge featuring a two-tone Dichroic and White finish.
- Elegant new fabrics: Across all trims, PEUGEOT has refreshed the interior with new fabrics and stitchings. A new optional seat fabric is also introduced for GT variants which features Black Alcantara® with Adamite Green stitching, matching the Adamite Green stitching across the dashboard on GT models.
Emotion: Our improved PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® enhances your driving experience

Now, at its centre, the new PEUGEOT shield is held alongside, where appropriate, the new GT logo on the lower part of its rim. For ideal ergonomics, the controls for the multimedia system (audio, telephone) as well as volume and voice control are housed here too.
