New Peugeot Partner van shows of modern styling

23 March 2015

Peugeot revolutionised the small van segment in 1996 with the Partner Van and its original one-box body style, entirely designed to meet the growing demand from business users for efficiency and robustness.

A second, then a third, generation Peugeot Partner Van continued to develop the definition of a compact van, with its spaciousness, comfort and modularity remaining the reference in the segment.

In the compact van segment, the worldwide annual sales for the third generation Peugeot Partner Van continues to grow. It had almost doubled in 2014 compared to the first full year on sale in 2009. During the same period, its market share outside Europe grew by more than 15%, reaching 20%.

To meet the needs of business users and enhance their operational ability, the Peugeot Partner Van adds to its benchmark utility and dynamic qualities: modernity, robustness and increased efficiency, with lower running costs.

In its styling, other than the new front end, the headlamps with their redesigned outline give the Partner Van a modern look that is different from the new Partner Tepee, due to the specific internal design of the headlamps.

Modern technologies to deliver efficiency and functionality

The new Peugeot Partner Van is available with the latest generation Euro 6 engine that meets the stringent emission standards and produces fuel economy among the lowest in the market.

In total, six VTi petrol, HDi and BlueHDi diesel engines are available at launch, delivering from 75 to 120hp. They meet the varying needs of business users, while having low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions that are 15% lower on average than the engines replaced:

1.6-litre VTi 98hp, 5-speed manual
1.6-litre HDi 75hp, 5-speed manual
1.6-litre HDi 92hp, 5-speed manual
1.6-litre HDi 92hp, ATV with Grip Control
1.6-litre BlueHDi 100hp S&S, 5-speed manual
1.6-litre BlueHDi 100hp S&S ETG6, 6-speed electronic
The 1.6 HDi 75 and 1.6 HDi 92 Euro 5 engines will continue to be available until June 2016.

The 1.6 litre BlueHDi 100 S&S version has record low CO2 emissions in the segment from 108g/km, with both manual and electronic controlled gearbox.

The BlueHDi engines offer optimum driving enjoyment due to their improved torque and power outputs.

Aligned with the servicing intervals for the vehicle, the AdBlue additive is topped up directly next to the fuel filler flap, so this operation is made easy for business users that cover more than 12,500 miles (20,000km) a year.

This range is supplemented with the Partner Van Electric version with zero emissions, delivering 67hp and having a potential range of 105 miles. Its battery carries an 8-year or 60,000 miles warranty.

The best safety and driving assistance systems

To ensure safety, ease of driving and preservation of the vehicle over time, the new Peugeot Partner Van offers a wide range of modern and technological driving and safety systems.

In addition to the standard safety equipment such as; ABS, emergency braking assistance, ESP with traction control, Hill Start Assist and Direct under-inflation detection, using a pressure sensor fitted to each wheel, the new Peugeot Partner Van offers Active City Brake (available as an option, from the S trim (level 1), from November 2015). As well as allowing an accident to be avoided, or the seriousness of an impact to be reduced, this system also has a positive effect on the insurance group rating and therefore running costs, a key factor for business users.

Cruise control and speed limiter are now standard from the SE trim (level 2). A fixed limiter function also makes it possible to set four limit speeds as desired by the operator.

In addition to the rear parking sensors already standard on the Professional trim (level 3), the new Peugeot Partner Van offers front parking sensors and a reversing camera available as options. Manoeuvres are thus made easier and the vehicle better protected.

Grip Control is a system that provides enhanced traction; it remains a reference in the segment and allows the vehicle to continue to make progress on roads or tracks and surfaces with low grip.

Mobile office: functional and connected

The Peugeot Partner Van offers a drivers cab perfectly adapted to business use.

The tall driving position gives optimum vision and ergonomic instruments and controls with a steering wheel adjustable for height and reach – rare in the segment- and the gear lever located on the dashboard. In addition, the 3rd centre passenger seat at the front benefits from a normal level of legroom, unique in the segment, with the ETG6 gearbox and its rotary control knob on the dashboard instead of a gear lever.

Close to 60-litres of storage space is available in the cabin for the use of passengers and the driver. The closed space in front of the steering wheel and the writing table on the back of the folding backrest of the central seat are particularly useful for business users.

The new Peugeot Partner Van is connected in real time, but also to the activities of business users themselves.

It includes the best of vehicle connectivity to meet the demand for these new uses:

  • The new telematic system together with a perfectly integrated large 7” colour touch screen, fitted as standard on Professional trim (level 3) and an option on SE trim (level 2), with Bluetooth, USB port, auxiliary jack socket, voice recognition and the MirrorScreen function with compatible smartphones;
  • TomTom semi-integrated navigation standard on Professional versions.
  • Benchmark load carrying and flexibility

To meet the differing needs of business users, the Peugeot Partner Van offers a wide range of body styles, the choice between two lengths: L1 at 4.38m and L2 at 4.63m, a crew cab version with a folding bench seat in row and a floor cab for body converters.

The Peugeot Partner Van is characterised by its modularity and load capacity, for which it is a benchmark in its category.

Available in two lengths, offering load volumes that are among the segments most generous

Its load volume attains 3.3m3 for an L1, with a load length of 1.80m and 3.7m3 for an L2, with a load length of 2.05m. This load capacity rises to 3.7m3 for an L1, with a load length of 3m and to 4.1m3 for an L2, with a load length of 3.25m due to the Multi-flex seat.

With its benchmark load width of 1.62m and 1.23m between wheel arches, the Peugeot Partner Van is capable of accommodating 2 Euro pallets (1.2m x 0.80m) in its short L1 version. Its asymmetric side-hinged rear doors, with 180° opening, make loading particularly easy. Its payload varies from 625kg to 850kg as an option on L1 and is up to 750kg on L2, among the best in the category.

With its Multi-flex seat, the new Peugeot Partner Van retains the exclusive modularity which has been a feature of the vehicle since its launch. This equipment, unique in the small van segment, copied but never equalled, allows:

  • Three people can be seated at the front. This practical feature is greatly appreciated by business users, allowing them to carry employees and their tools from one job to another, keeping journeys to a minimum
  • A flat load floor, with a load volume up to 400 litres and a load length greater than 1.20m, while still retaining the ability to carry two people, due to the folding outer passenger seat
  • Tall loads to be transported, due to the outer passenger seat cushion which can also be lifted onto the backrest
  • A mobile office function due to the writing table included into the back of the central seat backrest;
  • Additional load space, securely lockable with a padlock.
