Citroën has added yet more awards to this year’s already impressive haul, with the new ë-Dispatch being named as Van Fleet World's 'Van of the Year', and 'Best EV Van of the Year' in the EV Fleet World Awards. Both awards are shared with sister product across the Stellantis Group.
New Citroën ë-Dispatch is the first part of the brand's electrification commitment, to offer 100% electric variants of each LCV model in the range by the end of 2021. A full electric van, New ë-Dispatch is capable of up to 143 miles on the WLTP cycle with the 50kWh battery, or 205 miles with its 75kWh battery. New ë-Dispatch can be charged easily at home (via a 7Kw Wallbox), or at a rapid public charging station, which can recharge to 80% of the battery capacity in only 30 minutes, at speeds of 100kW.
New ë-Dispatch mirrors the practicality of the regular Dispatch van, making no compromises on tech and functionality. The battery has been positioned under the floor to maximise load space, providing up to 6.6m3 of load volume and a payload of up to 1,002kg. Thanks to the electric motor, drivers can now enjoy zero emissions, zero noise and no vibrations, creating a more serene environment for more relaxing journeys. Available in a choice of three trim levels and three lengths, there is a new ë-Dispatch to suit everyone.
John Kendall, Editor of Van Fleet World, said: "Recent growth in the electric and hybrid van sector has been impressive even through the pandemic and lockdown. One van stands out clearly from the crowd though, because of its competitive pricing and long-range potential with a WLTP combined range of 143 or 205 miles according to the battery chosen – the Citroën ë-Dispatch.
"The ë-Dispatch is the value for money champion in the van sector. Its pricing really makes this electric van an affordable alternative to petrol or Diesel power, while its driving range means that operators who may have been put off before could find that an electric van is completely viable for them."
More praise was received by the brand, with the much-loved Citroën Berlingo Van being 'Highly Commended' in the Van Fleet World 'Compact High-Cube Van' category, thanks to key attributes like its operating efficiency, robustness and comfort.
John Kendall, Editor of Van Fleet World, added: "The Citroën Berlingo offered buyers a range of improvements in driver assistance systems when it appeared in 2018 and was a major advance over its predecessor in key areas such as design, carrying capacity, cabin comfort and the driving experience. The addition of an electric model later this year is bound to renew interest in a van that has already proved a hit with fleet buyers."
The Van Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards is an annual and prestigious ceremony, organised to recognise vehicles at the top of their game in the LCV sector. An honour to always be celebrated, this is Citroën's third year in a row of being awarded for its market leading van offering.
Eurig Druce, Citroën UK's Managing Director, said: “I am incredibly proud of the news that Van Fleet World has named New Citroën ë-Dispatch as it’s ‘Van of the Year’, as well as awarding it the 'Best EV Van of the Year' accolade. New ë-Dispatch offers real cost benefits for businesses, whilst at the same time contributing to the future environment with zero emissions. This is another impressive result for our first new-generation electric van. Through 2021 our electric van line-up will be completed with the addition of both New ë-Relay and New ë-Berlingo Van."
