Enjoy Spring with the DS 3 Cabrio

29 March 2017

The clocks have changed, the sun is beginning to reappear and there are lambs in the fields. This all points towards one thing: spring is finally here. Lighter days and weekends lead to slight changes in many of our driving habits, with headlights and heaters used a lot less, while air-con and sunroof use increases.

With the release of new number plates and cars in March as well, spring is a great time to buy a new car in preparation for spring and summer. The New DS 3 Cabrio is an excellent choice, designed to truly excel throughout all seasons, but especially in the warmer months due to its convertible style.

Spring Style

The New DS 3 Cabrio unsurprisingly looks incredibly similar to the DS 3 hatchback, and from a distance is almost indistinguishable. Get up close and you’ll realise that it’s a stylish convertible, one that looks just as good with the canvas roof up or down. Rather than a complete folding drop-top, its large folding canvas roof means the B and C-pillars remain in place, maintaining the modern and compact appearance of the DS 3.

For a spring car, the New DS 3 Cabrio in white is one of the coolest options, with a black convertible roof complementing the body. Each model features the distinctive DS front grille and LED vision headlights which are perfect for when dusk falls. A bold crossover between a hatchback and convertible, the New DS 3 Cabrio looks divine and you can find one to match your tastes thanks to the many options available.

A Customisable Experience

There are various trim levels to choose between, along with countless personalisation options, so you can find or customise a model to meet your desires. From the entry level New DS 3 Cabrio Elegance trim, that includes a choice of 16” diamond cut alloy wheels and more, to limited edition Performance Black and Givenchy Le Makeup models, there’s plenty of choice for picking out the best spring car for you.

A variety of colours, wheel options and roof colours can be chosen between to make the car you buy more individual. Those after the flashiest option should go for the Performance Black version, with its matt black bodywork complemented by a gloss gold bi-tone roof, door mirrors and wheel centres and Anthracite DS wings grille surround. A more spring car would be from the New DS 3 Cabrio Performance Line in sport yellow, featuring 17” Aphrodite black alloy wheels, leather instrument panel and perforated leather sports steering wheel.

Practical Options

Whichever DS 3 convertible takes your fancy, each one offers a practical option as well as a great summer drive. The roof can be stopped at any place the occupants want, rather than having to go all the way back or stay closed. Plus, the roof can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 70 mph, so you can cool off even when whizzing down the motorway.

As the B and C-pillars remain in place, there’s also far less wind buffeting, especially when driving at fast speeds, than in other convertible cars. Boot space is a decent 245 litres for a hatchback with the rear seats in place, enough room for luggage if you’re taking the New DS 3 Cabrio on holiday. The boot lid also opens almost vertically, making it great for tight spaces. Plus, all models come with a touchscreen, air conditioning and rear parking sensors.

Strong Performance

The folding canvas roof only adds around 25kg of weight compared to standard DS 3 hatchbacks, meaning the handling and performance of the New DS 3 Cabrio is very similar. It also has little impact on fuel emissions and mpg. A mix of PureTech petrol and diesel engines are available, from a 1.2 litre petrol model that boasts 57.6 mpg, to an economical 1.6 litre diesel which claims 78.5 mpg and emits just 95g/km of CO².

If you intend to cover a lot of miles in the warmer seasons, then this will keep your wallet and carbon footprint feeling good. While for true power the New DS 3 Cabrio Performance Black is the one to choose, delivering 208bhp with a six-speed gearbox.

If you’re looking for a spring car to enjoy the upcoming seasons cruising around in, then a New DS 3 Cabrio is a great choice.
